As the economic globalization, the lifecycle of product is shortening continuously, customers desire individuation, the business competition is gradually vigorous, enterprises have to make well use of both internal and external resources and enhance efficiency to fill the demand of market. Business Process Management (BPM) is a new management information system development technology based on workflow and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). BPM can integrate both internal and external resources of enterprises. The BPM development focuses on processes and makes a new management information system. It must be a strategic tool for enterprises to face the challenge and to be dominant in the competition.As the most important part business process modeling is the very important foundation of process analysis and process management. This thesis first discusses the development status of business process management, describes a business process modeling architecture and researchs on business process modeling based on the BPEL and related technologies. BPEL is an advanced abstract executable modeling language. It has a particular advantage in describing the processes based on web services which makes it becoming the most popular process modeling language.Many firms support the BPEL specification. This thesis studies the core concept of BPEL, analyses the relationships with SOA and web services, and researchs on both the limitation and extension of BPEL.Along with the development of the enterprise informationization, enterprise portal becomes a hot enterprise information platform. Enterprise portal has many advantages such as content aggregation, single sign-on, individual customization and so on which can integrate various resources of the enterprise to improve the enterprise informationization management.This thesis researchs on portlet technology based on portal and discusses the portal platform integration's problems encountered in:the general web application's integration and unified user management integration. Then a BPEL business process management architecture based on portlet has been proposed by combining BPEL business modeling and portlet technology. Functional modules have been designed depending on the arhitecture and the integration of BPM and enterprise portal has been implemented. In addition an application of a typical examine and approve process has been designed and executed to verify the feasibility of the system.One of the major achievements of the thesis is the platform integration. The proposed architecture which implements the portal integration is a good BPM solution. The integrated components are all open source projects which can significantly reduce costs. On the user identity management the portal platform built a LDAP directory server to store the unified user information then use the CAS to make the unified user authentication which achieves single sign-on. This SSO solution is simple and has effective security.The emphasis of the research is to make the integration of the BPEL process modeling and the portal system, which can be a reference to the enterprise informationization and provide a feasible solution for it.
