Research Of Topology Discovery And Sub-net Management Based On SNMP

As the network size grows, many medium and small LANs are facing their own network management issues,the complexity of the network structure requires management personnel with a high level of technical expertise.At the same time the net status is constantly changing and bring big trouble to management.To reduce the burden of management,lower the cost and be efficiently managed,this paper includes two parts: topology discovery and network management,the most important is the dynamic topology discovery. Focuses on the dynamic topology discovery and analyzing the existing topology discovery method,proposed a program of dynamic topology discovery based on SNMP protocol to improve network management efficiency.SNMP protocol belong to Internet protocol suite, although it is not compatible with all network hardware and software platform, but is now compatible with most of them.With the popularity of the Internet,it has more and more routing port,Only use SNMP protocol can not avoid the problem of multiple port nor IP address,the results will be effected with loop.By combining SNMP and CDP protocol,using CDP protocol to disable the port and dynamically obtain information from MIB library.Then use graphical controls to display the topology diagram.The network management through SNMP agent process to obtain information.The management process send a request commend to agent,and the agent returns a response.So the premise of SNMP protocol is managed the device must support SNMP protocol system.According to the distribution of device to get the IP address in the network.Dynamically generated topology map,and then manage device.When the system monitored the device’s value is not normal,SNMP agent process can be proactive feedback the fault information to management timely and the managers can get next administration with IP address.The text of sub-network management system designed to help managers identify problems and solve the problems timely,reduce the losses caused by malfunction and to improve efficient of network management.Through performance management can troubleshooting promptly before a failureoccurs.Stable system through user management settings.And obtain the physical location and information of the fault timely by fault management.These features combined to make management easier,simple,and efficient.
