Research And Application Based On VTK And ITK Algorithm Library

With the development and advance of science and technology, new theories and methods are constantly emerging. In order to make use of the exiting algorithms and avoid repeated work, some research institutions have begun to realize the algorithms with programming language and developed a suit of algorithm library for image processing. Two better ones are VTK and ITK at present. They both have their own advantages and are complement to each other. VTK and ITK can be a entrance for researchers who want to digest the existing algorithms at home and abroad rapidly. Because of the users of VTK and ITK are numerous, it is convenient for researchers to communicate if they realize their algorithm in VTK or ITK's style.This paper realizes a medical image processing system based on VTK and ITK. The function of the system includes loading image files with different formats,3D Visualization,2D slice display, rotation and scaling of image, views switching, image segmentation and registration. The innovation of this paper covers two aspects:(1) A method of connecting VTK with ITK is proposed. (2) A class vtk My Transfer Function Widget is set up based on VTK, which can be used to improve the generating efficiency of transfer function.
