Newspaper in Education as a special type of professional newspaper has its unique and relatively stable pattern of editing, distribution. And it had less experience in market competition. As more and more people realized the importance of the Education, new requirements come up and it increases the demand of the reportage in Education. Therefore the leading newspaper offices are paying more attention to the reportage in Education. Daily, evening and metro newspaper starts to offer the special publications in Education. It has impacted traditional professional newspaper in Education because the integrated newspaper has timely reportage, wide audience and extensive distribution channels. Meanwhile, the rapid growth of new media is another challenge to the traditional media. Although the newspaper in Education has more specific target audience, but most of its news content is more traditional and didactic even the layout is older which make it difficult to attract audience. Additionally, with the deepening of education reform, the original distribution model of newspaper in Education which relies on administrative means is blocked. Concerning the long-term development, newspaper in Education will go to the market to face the challenge finally. It cannot be the winner unless it can reconsider the target audience, develop business and especially it requires the continuously innovation of content of reportage.This thesis takes <> as an example to show the problem of reportage in Education and reveal the root causes behind as well as analyzing the current situation of this industry. Accordingly it points out the necessity of the innovation of the reportage of professional newspaper in Education and concept of "Audience Oriented". It also propose the suggestions on expanding the sources of material of reportage, improving the editing model of reportage, exploring blue sea of reportage in Education, leveraging the new media to enrich the content of traditional newspaper and innovating the format of the newspaper.The viewpoint of this thesis is newspaper in Education must follow "Audience Oriented", actively take the challenge from new media and integrated newspaper and prevent the homogenization. Moreover, it must make sure the reportage is timely, in-depth, attractive and with visual impact. Last but not least, newspaper in Education should explore the market proactively, innovate the content of reportage and enhance the competitiveness in order to seek new opportunities in the competition of newspapering.
