Comparative Study Of The Journalistic Thought Between Chen Duxiu And Li Dazhao

Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao were politicians, scholars,who had important impact on Chinese modern history. They were also two outstanding activists of newspapers and publications. The number of newspaper created or edited by these two people could be involved in more than ten. The publications such as "New Youth", "Weekly Review",had huge effects on Chinese political, ideological and cultural changes.In the press practice,they also opened a new precedent of proletarian party press. In addition, they had issued lots of wonderful opinions about the nature of news and the rule of news according to their high consciousness in theory which did great contribution to the birth of Marxist journalism in China. Therefore ,the journalistic thoughts of the two man had far-reaching significance for the research of our journal history in modern China. Especially, both of them came from the same period and between them there was a profound friendship, they had the same development track of mind as well ,so , compare their journalistic thoughts will not only have a great studying space but also have a new perspective to deepen research of their thoughts about journalism.This paper uses the methods such as literature analysis, comparative analysis,etc. On the basis of full absorption of theoretical results , this paper makes a comprehensive comparison of journalistic thoughts between Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao . The introduction of this paper makes a brief description of several historical stages about Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao's public activities, and introduces three major sources of their journalistic thoughts. In the first chapter, it stresses on comparing the same point of their journalistic thoughts, and finds out the same theoretical proposition of their journalistic thoughts from four aspects, which are the Journalistic Monistic Ontology, the Concept of Press Functions, the View of Press Freedom and the View of Press Editing. And it sums up the similar characteristics of their journalistic thoughts from the context, the content, the expression and the spirits of them. The second chapter enphasize on comparing the difference between their journalistic thoughts. Firstly from a theoretical perspective, it makes a summarization of their respective journalistic thoughts with nature of cross subject, and then sums up the difference of the two journalistic thoughts in content. Secondly, it identifies the different understandings and different ideas held by the two men in the same subject of theory. The last chapter puts emphasis on analyzing the reason why their journalistic thoughts become similar or different. And the paper reaches a conclusion that the similar experiences and environment, identical development of political and social thought, and the same perspective in investigation of the Journalism are the main reasons for the similar journalistic thoughts of them. While their different understanding of the Modern Western thoughts, distinct strategies to save the nation and diversity of their thought background and academic interests, makes their journalistic thoughts present different personality and characteristics in some areas and some stages.
