With the development of urbanization process and residential commercialization, a large number of high-rise buildings are constructed. People have to use elevator in their daily life, no matter what they go on/off duty, go shopping, go to hospital or visit friends, stay at home. With the great increase of elevator quantity, we have to pay more attention to the safety of elevators. There are 2 aspects to improve the reliability of elevator operation. First, to improve manufacture and installation quality by updating software and hardware design, Second, to monitor and maintain elevators on time by the perfect surveillance and maintenance.It is the revolutionary change to apply computer into the traditional elevator industry, this connects traditional elevator to internet and updates to information elevator system, and it can minimize losses of lives and property caused by elevator operation failure. The representative system is the birth of remote elevator monitoring system. The remote elevator monitoring system enables manufacturers to know in time the exact location where the elevator fails, and then the repair work can be performed in time to improve elevator quality reliability. In the meantime, it can provide real-time view of the operating conditions, and to control the running of the elevator.This paper is based on C/S (Client/Server) mode. It builds an elevator model on the embedded development platform with ARM9 EBD9315 and completes keyboardboard simulation elevator running used the lift to the first algorithm. At the same time, we capture images with camera and make it for JPEG compression, and then transfer image and the elevator running data to control center for real-time display and so on. This system's hardware consists of two parts, ARM9 EBD9315 and micro-computer. ARM9 EBD9315 embedded development board is the elevator server side and personal micro-computer is the client side of monitoring the real-time information. Software environment is developed under a free open-source Linux operating system. The development language is C language. And the compiler is arm-linux-gcc. It realizes real-time image data transmission between the server side and client side through the LAN using Socket communication.This paper proposed the elevator monitoring theoretical system, established the system framework, and organized model testing performance.
