At present, general cargo terminals still use traditional management methods, or even totally rely on manual processing. That results in low efficiency of the loading and unloading, low utilization of yard, lag of information transferring and a series of problems which affected the throughput of the general cargo terminal and make the bottleneck of port overall competitiveness. Therefore, using advanced information technology to improve production management of general cargo terminal is imperative for long-term development.This text is basing on recombination of general cargo terminal business process. By use of computer, network, database and geographic information technology and in the form of visual control and all information integration of terminal logistics operating activities, the terminal can share the internal and external information. System caters to the general cargo terminal management features, focuses on container yard, will range from cargo enter planning to cargo final location, and cargo exit management. The efficient and accurate process of cargo provides convenience for various departments to facilitate information access and process of freight yard, with a highly comprehensive and good visibility.The system in this paper has already been put into good practice. The system can provide managers and operational staffs with integrated information such as date, figure, chart, etc. which provide beneficial basis and technological measures for scientific management and standardization of general cargo management in Tianjin Port.
