This paper presents a design for a multi-information collecting system for individual fireman. The system can provide the motion status of the firemen and transmit the thermal video of the fire scene to the command center. Thus it can aid the rescue commander monitor the fireman's status and make proper decision on the rescue program.The multi-information collecting system is composed of activity recognition module, thermal video capture module and wireless communication module. Activity recognizing is the focal point of the work. The module can get the target's motion data through the triaxial accelerometer and recognize the target's motion mode by an algorithm based on BP neural network. Analyzing the target's activity will give an overview of the fireman's motion status and working progress, which can be great helpful for adjusting the rescue strategy. The thermal video capture module can display the thermal video on a monocular video display fixed on the fire helmet, it can release the fireman's hands form holding it. The wireless communication module is designed to transmit the local video and data to the command center.
