Research On Liu Jia - Liang 's Film Works

As the first person to be both action director and director, Lau Kar Leung’s works have the unique style of “real Kung Fu”. This kind ofmartial arts film isconsistently referred to byfilmdom even after his death.Based on available data, my research performs systematized analysis of his works as far as possible and plays a instructive role to films of this kind thereafter. This paper is organized as follows:Introduction classifies the current researches of Lau’s films and outlines the meaning of my research.Part I clarifies Lau’s biography and his works, on which the following analysis is based on.Part II explores the action and art designs in Lau’s works. It mainly analysizes their moving realistic full-length shots, expression of humourous elements, life-based action scenesand simplified action aesthetics in order to find their uniqueness.Part III reviews the formation of the cultural values in Lau’s films. It displays their significance and meaning from the following respects:the succession for orthodox Chinese martial art, theadvancement of the moral spirit of Kung Fu and the development of the Kung Fu team of Lau.Conclusion shows that although it’s such a pity that Lau’s films are fading out of people’s sight, I still sincerely hope that this type of Kung Fu film can be inherited and turn out to be an new international one.
