A Study Of Misinterpretation Caused By Hermeneutic Understanding In English And Chinese Alternative Interpreting

Interpreting plays a more and more important role as an effective way in international communications. Both professional and student interpreters often have all kinds of problems and difficulties during interpreting. Among those difficulties, listening comprehension and information receiving are common ones which will lead to the errors of interpreting. In this thesis, the writer analyzes the errors of interpreting which are caused by listening comprehension according to Obama’s 2015 State of the Union Address, and then find out the influencing factors, including the obstacle of pronunciation reorganization, word comprehension, complicated sentences and cultural knowledge. Also the writer comes up with some coping strategies to solve the problem of errors of interpreting, such as strengthening everyday training, improving capability of pronunciation and listening comprehension and other interpreting strategies like positive prediction, extracting the key information, self-repair and so on. As a result, we can resolve the problem of listening comprehension and information receiving and errors of interpreting.
