Recently, with the promotion of China’s international status, there are more and more foreign students and overseas Chinese who came to China. They aim at studying Chinese in order to apply it rather than learning the language only. Furthermore, according to a survey among advanced Chinese learners, compared with the learning of basic knowledge of Chinese, they are more willing to learn the Chinese traditional culture. However, under the existing system of the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, most courses focus on teaching language rather than teaching culture, which cannot meet the needs of foreign learners. Meanwhile, this problem also can be found in the teaching materials, which is too seldom to meet the needs of foreign learners. Thus, it is an important and urgent work to set up more culture-teaching courses in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Because of the extensive and profound of Chinese culture, there are too many traditional cultures for us to choose as a subject. This paper selects the “writing brushâ€, one of the “Four Treasures of the Studyâ€, and which is also the typical example of Chinese culture in foreigners’ opinions, as the theme of culture-teaching.As one of the unique products of the Chinese civilization, the writing brush is the most significant implement for ancient Chinese to record and spread information. It is also one of the most important symbols of Chinese culture, which ranks first in the “Four Treasures of the Studyâ€.Based on the reasons discussed above, the author attempts to design the course of “writing brush†as the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, which aims at meeting the needs of advanced foreign learners of Chinese who want to make a deep study of Chinese culture. According to the requirements of the designing of teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, the culture-teaching is divided into four aspects, the general situation of writing brush, the compilation of teaching materials, the design of teaching and the reflection of teaching. The author also selects the first class of Understand Writing Brush and Handwriting—Calligrapher as the case of demonstration lesson. This paper is mainly divided into five parts:Firstly, the summarization of the research of “writing brushâ€, one of the “Four Treasures of the Studyâ€;Secondly, the general situation of courses of “writing brushâ€, which include the introduction of the course, the analysis of teaching objectives, the analysis of the principle of teaching and the analysis of teaching object;Thirdly, the design of teaching material of “writing brushâ€, which include the analysis of the demand, style, content, capacity and auxiliary material of the design of teaching material;Fourthly, the teaching-design of “writing brushâ€, which include the case of demonstration lesson of “the culture of writing brush†and the analysis of each key point of the course.Fifthly, the conclusion includes the author’s analysis and reflection on the advantages and disadvantages of “the culture of writing brush†teaching-design.The design is based on the author’s experience of teaching Chinese in Mongolia Ih Zasag International University, which aims at making the foreign students to make a deep understand of Chinese culture through this teaching-design. |
