A Study On The Promotion Of Chinese Language And Culture In Confucius Institutes In Portland State University

The rise of "Chinese fever" throughout the world and the rapid development of the Confucius Institute makes Confucius Institute become the bridge to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Chinese and people around the world. As the country having the largest number of Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms, American CI started early and develop well. Conduct a research on its Confucius Institute may provide help and reference for the development of other Confucius Institutes, Chinese language teaching and cultural dissemination.This thesis focusing on the Confucius Institute at Portland State University in the United States, will carry out a detailed study and analysis of Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion. Hopefully, the analysis result will provide some valuable reference and experience for the sustainable development of the Confucius Institute to provide some reference and promote the popularization of Chinese international education.This thesis consists of five parts:The first chapter introduces the study origin, purpose and significance, research trends and research methods. The second chapter is the general situation of the Confucius Institute atPortland State University. The third and fourth chapter mainly dwells on the language teaching and culture transmission in Confucius Institute from the teaching situation of Confucius Institute and Confucius classroom, the type of curriculum, textbooks compilation, language program, teacher training, cultural activities and promotion. The last chapter is the reflection and summary of the development of the Confucius Institute, and provided some suggestions. Hopefully, this thesis can present the current state of development of the Confucius Institute at Portland State University for everyone, and help people know about its Chinese language teaching situation.
