Multi-category words have the grammatical function of two or more parts of speech,so they have always been a difficulty in Chinese teaching.As both verbs and adjectives are often used as predicates,and have similar grammatical functions,Chinese learners often confuse the use of verbs and adjectives with verb-adjective concurrent words,which is more likely to lead to various errors in their use.Among the collection of multi-category words in Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education,there are a large number of verbadjective concurrent words.This paper mainly takes 42 verb-adjective concurrent words of three elementary levels as the research object,defines and classifies verb-adjective concurrent words.The data statistics and comprehensive analysis of the correct and incorrect examples in the Global Chinese Interlanguage Corpus and HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus are carried out at three levels: junior,middle and senior.Based on the systematic analysis of the data of different learning levels in the interlanguage corpus,this paper studies and classifies the correct and incorrect use of verbadjective concurrent words.Through the correct use cases of the corpus,the dynamic acquisition process and vertical development characteristics are summarized,that is,most of the correct use rate of verb-adjective concurrent words will increase with the improvement of learning level,but there is some unbalanced phenomenon.The use cases of error are divided into three types: verb related,adjective related and both related.The causes of error are summarized from ontology,learners and teaching materials,and the corresponding suggestions are put forward.In addition,this paper also explains the reasons for the formation of errors from the perspective of language ontology,learners and textbooks,and then puts forward some suggestions to improve the learning and teaching of Chinese verb-adjective concurrent words.From the perspective of teaching,it is proposed to classify teaching according to grammar function,stratify teaching according to learning level,and strengthen practice by using various teaching methods.From the perspective of self-study,it is proposed to cultivate autonomous learning ability with goals and plans,comprehensively apply various learning methods with serious learning attitudes,and enhance learning motivation.From the perspective of teaching materials,some suggestions are put forward,such as reasonable collection,accurate annotation,timely reproduction,etc.
