In the history of Chinese literature in Guizhou, the period from Min Dynasty to early Republic of China can be regarded as a period of numerous achievements.During this period, many writers with a certain influence emerged in large numbers,such as Xie Sanxiu, Wu Zhongfan, Yue Qijie, Zhou Yuhuang, Zhengzhen, Mo Youzhi, Tianrong and Yaohua and so on, all exerting a certain influence on the literary circle. Among them, Tianrong was given the same title with Panchun as ‘a giant scholar of Guizhou poems’ by later generations after Zhou Yuhuang. His poems not only had an influence on the central Guizhou, but also enjoyed the fame nationwide. This paper uses ‘poems of Tianrong’ as the main research object. Divided into four chapters, it centers on Tianrong’s poetic creation, making research from aspects of his poetic content, artistic characteristics and with other poets.The first chapter is an introduction of Tianrong’s life and his creation events. The introduction of his life experience, literary friends and literary creation generally draws the outline of his growth experiences, learning environments, personal accomplishments, knowledge origins and political practices as well as their influences on his academic creation and the formation of his political thoughts. The second chapter makes a classified study on his poems and has a specific assurance and intuitive understanding of his poems by examining and correcting Bi Shan Tang Poems, analyzing the his main writings especially the contents, themes and ideas of his scenic poems, object-chanting poems and farming poems. The third chapter makes a detailed analysis and explanation on artistic characteristics of his poems from aspects of poetic content and words. In addition, this chapter also explores the causes of the formation of his artistic characteristics. The fourth chapter probes into poetics origins and regional features of his poems mainly from two aspects. The first is his admiration for and imitation of Tao Yuanming.The second is his admiration for and imitation of Wang Shizhen, In addition, the place where he grew up and the place he administered where ethnic minorities lived are filled with strong regional features, so his poems show his descriptions and feelings about witchcrafts, supernatural creatures and ethnic minorities.
