Bin Poems and Qin Poems widely deeply reflect the folk culture of Bin and Qin people in Zhou Dynasty. In the view of today’s people, it is just a reflection of folk customs of some areas of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. We make a new analysis about folk culture in Bin Poems and Qin Poems from folklore and sociology so that we can probe further into people’s production, daily life and living conditions in this region in Zhou Dynasty. This is not only the innovation and development of the research about Bin Poems and Qin Poems but also the certain theoretical significance for the whole study of the Book of Songs.First, we sketch out the regional folk culture in Bin Poems and Qin Poems in this thesis, which shows that the geographical scope of Qin in Zhou Dynasty is roughly in today’s Tianshui area in Gansu province and Guanzhong area in Shaanxi province; Binzhou in Zhou Dynasty is about in today’s Bin County and Xunyi County in Shaanxi. From regional culture and folk customs, studying Bin Poems and Qin Poems is the innovation and development of the research methods to study the Book of Songs. Second, we make further research about production folk customs of Bin Poems and Qin Poems; and state that the production of folk customs appeared in Bin Poems and Qin Poems is the reflection of farming style, which also reveals farming poems’ culture connotation in Bin Poems and Qin Poems. Third, by analyzing costumes folk in Bin Poems and Qin Poems, we can draw a conclusion that costumes folk is a reflection of clothing shape, and it has the function of distinguishing identity and social status in Zhou Dynasty. Fourth, we discuss marriage folk in Bin Poems and Qin Poems, and deeply analyze the culture connotation of marriage folk, then point out that marriage poems in Bin Poems and Qin Poems is a reflection of the social concept of female subordination, marriage system and marriage custom. Fifth, we analyze hunting folk customs, military folk customs, festival customs and funeral customs, and dissect its cultural connotation.In conclusion, we infer that the level of productivity development plays the decisive role in the forming of folk customs; the living environment also has important influence on it. The folk customs in Bin Poems and Qin Poems is inherited and innovated by people of today’s Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. The poems of Bin Poems and Qin Poems embody the cultivation spirit of people’s bearing hardships, the spirit of solidarity, the spirit of obeying the law, and the spirit of respecting the superiors. All those excellent cultural traditions have a very important practical significance for today’s construction of spiritual civilization and harmonious society in China.
