| The Dai, as living in Yunnan ethnic minorities, has a long history and unique ethnic culture. It is known as the Dai Buddhism as southern Theravada Buddhism, the closest Indian primitive Buddhism, was introduced into the Dai national minority area, which combined with the Dai national minority primitive religion, formed the unique Dai Buddhist faith. It is not known as the Dai poetry, has a long history and value, especially with the influence of Buddhism, the Dai poetry can be the representative of the unique national culture.For the Dai national minority culture, Buddhism and poetry are inseparable. The development of the Dai poetry, especially the peak of narrative poetry, Buddhism as a direct promoter, leapfrog development of the Dai poetry plays an important role. Buddhism influence on the Dai poetry, which is not only the influence of Buddhist thought, but also from Buddhism, was introduced into the Dai national area, which affected the direction of poetry development. Changes in the Buddhist displays in: the wide use of character, making the Dai poetry written from oral into literature; the change of singers, making the Dai poetry written by person into collective. The Dai poetry retains the traditional culture, at the same time, added a color of Buddhism.From the influence of Buddhism, we can insight the Dai whole culture. In addition to the effect, this paper also involves southern Theravada Buddhism’s religious thought, primitive religious thought, and the literature summary and so on.
