A Study On The Historical Geography Of The Pre - Qin And Tang Wuling

Regional historical geography is an important part of the system of Chinese historical geography, and the research is basic method and view in historical geography study. According to regional historical geography, we can generally comprehend the developmen talevolution in Chinese historical geography, through researching many regions exhaustively. The region of Wulingyuan which studies is located in the north of xianyang. Specifically, this region is from Xingping in the west to Gaoling in the east and from Jingyang in the north to the north shore of Weihe River in the south. This region is regarded as geomancy omen by many emperor, because there is a planteau with open views and beautiful scenery. From Pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty, this region has already formed unique characteristics in all kinds of respects that includes natural surroundings, settlement and population. Therefore, according to historical documents, former researches as well as field studies, by method of historical geography study, this study discusses the area of five hills.This study mainly includes four respects. The first respect is about the cause of formation and range in the area of Wulingyuan. Second, it discusses the natural surroundings that includes landform, river, vegetation and etc. in this region as well as these factors having influenced in this area. The third discussion is about settlement of this region, including types, distributions and features from Pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty. What’s more, it studies population scale, composition, transition as well as its influence on social morality from Pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty. The above research, it is clear that the original natural environment of Wulingyuan in the pre-qin dynasty to the tang dynasty has been showing signs of damage, and it was closely tied to political factors such as development and regime change. Through study, it is clear that people can realize a lot about historical development and important status in the area of wulingyuan; it can make a deep influence on the development and protection of local tourist resources and cultural heritages.
