After Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty is the foundation and the mature period of imperial examination. Research on the imperial examination of Tang Dynasty has achieved fruitfully from the system itself to the social associations, from individual subject to the compilation of data. But detailed analysis in micro-level is rare. This article choose YuanHe periods of XianZong Emperor to explore the methods of imperial examination in a specific period.Tangxianzong made the appearance of reviving situation, known as "YuanHe Reviving" replace of changing from flourish to decadence after AnShi’s Rebellion in his reign of 15 years. YuanHe imperial examination is not only an important driving force of YuanHe Reviving, but also the specific form of Yuanhe culture.The basic conditions of Yuanhe imperial examination were summarized from two forms of examination, choosing by system and GongJu in the first chapter. In addition to the basic research of imperial edict, exam questions and admissions, this article focuses more on morphological study, such as the environment of imperial examination, title and its source, the analysis of test content, candidate’s preparation, the evaluation standards of the examiner and so on.The second chapter, we use knowlege of statistics, to study the candidate’s background and native place as well as the future after examination, founding that Yuanhe mperial examination appeared some new trends and characteristics, compared with the former. Imperial’s position is increasingly important, a father and son, brothers or grandparent and grandchild being successful candidates in the highest imperial examination is more gradually up, even appeared a wide range branches of the family.And regional distribution is becoming more and more widely, the surge in the number of Jiangnan province bridging the gap between North and South. Many successful candidates become asides and stuff of the military governor.The imperial and social-cultural interactions were studied in the third chapter. It discusses the relationship between imperial examination and education, history literature, to explore the imperial examination reasons of Yuanhe cultural prosperity.
