In this paper, the calligraphy thoughts of JinShi are researched by taking his annotations as clues. The process of breakthrough, mutual fusion and combination in calligraphy thoughts and creation are explored, and its influences on the later stage of Lingnan calligraphy circles are analyzed. Taking JinShi’s annotations as the breakthrough point and positioning JinShi as Lingnan Buddhist calligraphy representative, the JinShi’s calligraphy thoughts are researched, which provide certain reference for the research on the development history of Lingnan calligraphy. Firstly,the JinShi’s life, calligraphic style and characteristic are briefly described. Secondly,the Jinshi’s annotations are classified according to calligraphy, painting, poetry,Buddhist scriptures and other annotation carriers. Thirdly, through taking the view,copying view, judging view and creation view as outline, the calligraphy thoughts of JinShi are studied from his annotations and the key successful factors for Jinshi’s calligraphy thought and style are pointed out. Finally, the historical value of JinShi’s life, calligraphy thought and style are summarized.
