Different periods of calligraphy styles are the reflection of Calligrapher’s academic ability and quality. Different from other Calligraphers, Yang Shoujing’s extraordinary calligraphic art is based on his profound knowledge. Yang Shoujing holds the view of innovation, he breakthroughs the past abstract evaluation method and establishes the dialectical empirical method for the first time, and advocates the thoughts of "the combination of tablets and copybooks" and "making the scene push towards all directions"; He imitates and learns from the ancient calligraphy but he is never constrained by it, Yang Shoujing provides the rich experience for the later generations in calligraphy learning.This article starts with Yang Shoujing’s works on calligraphy study, it is believed that his studies on calligraphy is systematic and empirical and he has more objective understanding towards the Chinese calligraphy rules of development and evolution. Besides, Yang Shoujing advocates "combining of tablets and copybooks", which surely due to his deep understanding and grasping of calligraphy. In addition, paying great attention to the writer’s character and cultivation is another characteristic of his study which is mainly caused by the fact that Yang Shoujing is a scholastic calligraphers.Except for cursive script, Yang Shoujing also makes great achievement in the seal character, official script, regular script and running script.This paper is about the analysis the style of these four works systematically and especially is about the research of relationship between Yang’s calligraphic view and calligraphic style.Yang Shoujing’s calligraphy is "the combination of tablets and copybooks", and he makes full use of the strokes of seal script and clerical script, on the basis of that, he pursues the artistic style of grainy, and the excellent art of composition as well as ingredient of inscription rubbing, eventually forms his own primitive, deep, overall and changeable style.The author demonstrates the decisive effect on Yang’s thought of "combination of tablets and copybooks" towards his calligraphy style.
