A Comparative Study Of Dialect Words In The Fifth And Sixth Editions Of Modern Chinese Dictionary

Based on the comprehensive statistics collocation of dialect words on the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary",dialect words in dictionary are increased, deleted and adjusted using related database and reference books with all aspects,as well as analyze the existing problems included in the dialect words and put forward relevant opinions and suggestions of improvement.There are four chapters:The first chapter counts specific data on the aspect of retention, increasing, deletion and adjustment in sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary" compared to version fifth in the of dialect words, and described combined with the specific case as a whole. Secondly, analysis of overall characteristics of the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary" are analyzed from the dialect words, dialect phrases, dialect meaning and dialect collection in order to summarize the compilation of achievement.The second chapter overall analyses the reasons of adding and reducing dialect words in the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary", which finds out it is mainly based on frequency of use, and the supplementary. Then, the basis of adding and reducing dialect words in the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary" is comparatively analyzed, which leads to a result that the adding of some dialect words are not consistent with deletion.The third chapter overall analyses the adjusting reasons of "dialect to mandarin" and "mandarin to dialect" in the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary". As a result, it focuses on the use of frequency and the dialect color meaning to adjust dialect words. Finally, the comparative analysis of reasons of "dialect to mandarin" and "mandarin to dialect" in the sixth edition of "modern Chinese Dictionary"leads to that some adjusting reasons are not consistent.The fourth chapter comparatively analyses some unreasonable specific cases, summarizes unreasonable factors in order to point out some unreasonable problems of dialect word annotation and collocation in the sixth edition of "Chinese Dictionary". At last, reasonable suggestions are put forward according to the above problems.
