The history of Yuan Dynasty was very short.But it’s art of calligraphyobtained a high achievement.Especially,both Zhao Mengfu and Xianyu Shu werethe most outstanding artists who were all noted by Yuan Dynasty. They were bothclassicists of calligraphy who were keened on the charm of Jin Dynasty and thetestiminies of Tang Dynasty.And then they became the master of the world of YuanDynasty’s calligraphy and created a new situation.But it was to be regretted thatthe academic circle made more great efforts in the stduy of Zhao Mengfu in a longtime while paid little attention to the study of Xianyu Shu.In a sence,the study ofXianyu Shu is still a blank field in the reseach of Yuan Dynasty.This paper will reaserch the influence between Xianyu shu from the culruraland art circle of Yuan Dynasty by a comprehensive way that used a focal point bythe study by Xianyu shu’s lifetime and friendly constacts.And the influencebetween the art and curtural of Yuan Dynasty with Xianyu shu’s art concept andproduce. By the way,we’ll comprehend the formation and establishment of thecalligraphy thoughts of Xianyu shu and his art history that he became giant ofcalligraphy by various influence of any teathers.This paper will take Xianyu shu asa case to reveal the influence between calligrapher’s frendly constact and theconcept of calligraphy and art.At the same time,we’ll try to reproduce finely thethought,concept and art produce of Yuan Dynasty that Xianyu shu lived.This paper is divided into four chapters: The introduction is the summary research about the study of Xianyu Shu．Andmaking pectination, analysises and summaries to the present situation of the studyof Xianyu Shu. Meanwhile,we’ll expound the basic methods used in this paper.The first chapter will analyze the cultural characteristics of Yuan Dynastywhich Xianyu Shu lived, and relate his lifehood and the art of calligraphy ofXianyu Shu.The second chapter is the North travel period of Xianyu Shu in1246to1276.This chapter will mainly investigate to his family,his early experience and hisfriendly constacts in the early years.During this period,Xianyu Shu mainly traveledin the north of Yuan Dynasty, imitating and contacting with the north calligraphersmostly such as Wang Tingyun and Aodun xilu. Accroding to make friends withold man who have high fame and prestige for a long time in the North area,andlearning from many teachers,extensively absorbing nutrition ofCalligraphy mingtie in various dynasties,he have a solid foundation in the art ofcalligraphy finally, and initially formed its own Calligraphy style.The third chapter, Xianyu Shu lived in Southern areas which took Hangzhouas the centre from1277to1302.This chapter mainly Investigate Xianyu Shu’sfriendly constacts with bosom friends in art, with literati of various nation and withpeople of all religion background. In1277,he met Zhao Mengfu when he went tothe South.They encourage each other and common progress,thereupon then theypromoted the classical Renaissance of calligraphy in Yuan Dynasty. During this period,Xianyu Shu’s official career was not smooth.He wasremoved from office Frequently.But Hangzhou is the convergence of people whogood at literature,calligraghy and painting.
