Due to population growth, lack of resources, and complicated historicaland social factors, China’s economic development is not evenly distributedthroughout the country. There are vast disparities between income levels ofthose in different cities, counties, and provinces. Under these conditions, thequality of food consumed in daily life also varies throughout China, and foodsafety issues are routinely at the forefront of the government’s agenda. Theintroduction of relevant laws and regulations has given a certain level ofguarantee regarding food safety. However, due to limited consumer awareness,and the comparatively late development of related industries, the design ofpackaging of FMCG foods in China is far behind that of its westerncounterparts.The focus of this study is eco-friendly design regarding packaging ofFMCG foods. Extensive research has been conducted into related law,consumer psychology, design, psychology, food packaging materials and foodpackaging technology, with design and packaging materials as the startingpoint, and working within the guidelines of relevant laws on eco-friendlypackaging. This report is comprised of six parts: The first part introduces thecurrent problems in short-term "FMCG Food packaging. The second partprovides an overview of the relevant legal differences between China anddeveloped countries, and lays the foundation for the legal establishment andimplementation of the promotion of eco-friendly production. The third sectionanalyzes China’s current food packaging materials, the trend of itsdevelopment, and current problems of varying degrees. The fourth partprovides an analysis of consumer demand regarding eco-friendly foodpackaging, from a combined viewpoint of psychology and design theory, andimplements advanced western theory in these fields as part of that analysis. The fifth section analyzes the available eco-friendly materials and relatedtechnologies. It also discusses the concept of environmentally-consciouscoordination of all aspects of production and design of packaging materials.The sixth part provides insight into the prospective development of FMCGfood packaging in the direction of eco-friendliness. It addresses developmentsin the related fields of law, design, and materials production, with thecommon objective of achieving environmental sustainability. |
