"Wu Zixu Story" In The Korean Peninsula Spread And Acceptance

This study focused on seeing the story of an important historical figure Zixu Wu in Chinese literature. This is about how many Zixu Wu’s stories were passed on the Korean peninsula, and how Korean writers were perceived.There are many literatures on Zixu Wu in China, but only a few literatures were handed down to the Korean Peninsula.《史记(Shiji)》,《越绝书(Yuejueshu)》 and《吴越春秋(Wuyuechunqiu)》, they are three main types of literature on Zixu Wu in existence on the Korean Peninsula.Zixu Wu betrayed the motherland in order to avenge his father and brother, and was naturalized in other country. At a later, he gathered another country’s military and attacked the homeland, and then damaged the tomb of a bitter enemy and whipped his body because of avenging his father and brother. For these actions of vengeance, Korean writers have a discrepancy in their views. Some people gave Zixu Wu positive reviews, but other people gave him negative reviews. As Chinese writers, the writers of Yi dynasty period represented many differences in assessment of Zixu Wu, because they had dissimilarities in moral philosophy, personal experience and social environment. This paper mainly researched the literary people of Yi dynasty period how to accept Zixu Wu story.Zixu Wu story was introduced into the Korean Peninsula, and passed after new adaptations and translations, and published as a folk fiction book,《(?)(Wu Zixu’s biography》. Through this study, I’d like to introduce new literatures about Zixu Wu and we could briefly glimpse the localization process of Zixu Wu story on the Korean Peninsula.
