On The View Of Loyalty And Filial Piety And Love And Marriage In Chinese And American Mulan Stories

The story of Mulan joining the army for her father is well-known in China,and the image of Mulan’s filial son and heroine is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.In the context of globalization,the story of Mulan has even made its way onto the world stage,becoming a familiar legend to the people of the world,and Mulan has also become a favorite image of China.In the long history of China and even the world,there has never been a lack of stories of legendary women.Most of these stories disappeared with the changes of the times and cultural values.The story of Mulan has remained in contemporary culture after more than a thousand years and has become an influence.The fundamental reason for the classic stories of the spiritual values of Chinese and even Westerners is that the cultural value connotation reflected in the stories can keep up with the trend of the development of the times to make adjustments,and has contemporary value that cannot be ignored.The concept of loyalty and filial piety is a cultural theme that runs through the development of Mulan’s story,while the concept of marriage and love is a new cultural theme unearthed in the Ming Dynasty.The cultural values reflected by these two themes have different expressions in different Mulan story texts.This article mainly analyzes the story texts of Mulan in China and the United States,and compares the changes in the plots and character settings of the texts of the past dynasties,to investigate the evolution of the loyalty and filial piety and the concept of marriage and the reasons for the evolution.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly elaborates the background and significance of the topic,the status quo of research at home and abroad,research methods,and the innovations and limitations of this article.The second part is the right theory,including chapters one to four.The first chapter is a summary of the Mulan story text.The Chinese text is divided into four different systems according to the genre of the text: poetry system,popular literature system,legend and folk belief system,and film and television literature system.English texts are listed in chronological order.The second chapter mainly focuses on the relationship between loyalty and filial piety.By comparing and analyzing the plots and characters in the representative texts of Mulan stories from different eras,it shows the development track of the cultural connotation of loyalty and filial piety in the process of text evolution.And according to the background of the time when the text was produced,it revealed the political and cultural motivations that influenced the evolution of the loyalty and filial piety culture.The third chapter starts from the perspective of marriage and love.According to the two marriage and love endings in Mulan stories during the Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,it focuses on the internal reasons for the sorrow and joy endings,and reveals the ancient and modern marriages by analyzing the differences in the marriage and love plots of different texts.The changing process of the concept of marriage and the background of the times reveal the ideological and cultural motivations for the evolution of marriage patterns and concepts.The forth chapter through the plot analysis of the American Disney film "Mulan",reveals a new interpretation of the American view of loyalty and filial piety and marriage in the story of Mulan,and shows the cultural values of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures in Disney films-loyalty and filial piety,and desire to transcend Gender,to achieve a free and equal view of marriage and love.Finally,it analyzes the value and significance of Disney’s reinterpretation of Mulan’s story from the perspective of cross-cultural communication and cultural integration.The third part is the conclusion,which integrates the main points of the above chapters,summarizes the evolution of the concept of loyalty and filial piety and the concept of marriage in the texts of the Chinese and American Mulan stories,and points out the spiritual and cultural value of the Mulan story in the contemporary era.And from the dynamic perspective of cultural development and dissemination,it reveals the cultural connotation of coexistence in the story of Chinese and American Mulan.
