.Inkstone, one of the "four treasures" in Chinese traditional study, reflected high historic and art value by its materials, forms, patterns and manufacture skills.This dissertation mainly research inkstones of early ages, which from Han dynasty to early Tang dynasty. By examining the details of inkstones and studying its general features and distinctions, the author draws an initial research on identification of the objects. This dissertation is deployed in the following four chapters.Chapter1:Introduction Describes the research background, methodology and main objects. It also introduces the current archaeological research on early aged inkstone, including the geographic distribution of excavation location and the chronology.Chapter2focuses on materials, types, forms, manufacture skills, decoration and calcination craft of inkstones from different periods. Detailed research such as geographic and period distribution is conducted for providing basic evidences of identification.Chapter3is the general research based on data from previous Chapter. It contains research on usage,and inner relationships with tomb owners.Last chapter:conclusion. By the arguments in this dissertation, the writer wish to offering basic and practical support for further research on early aged inkstones identification.
