In teaching Chinese as a foreign language, modal adverbs are the difficulties and key points. Furthermore, synonymous modal adverbs are somewhere that overseas students are very liable to make mistakes, because they have slight differences in aspect of semantics, pragmatics and syntax. They will be difficult to apply correctly without detailed analysis. From the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this paper differentiates and analyzes five groups of synonymous modal adverbs, which are "Shizai" and "Queshi", "Mingming" and "Fenming", "Xingkui" and "Haozai", "Bijing" "Daodi" and "Zhongjiu", "Bumian" "Nanmian" and "Weimian". This paper consists of six chapters. The first five chapters respectively analyze the similarities and differences of the five groups of modal adverbs in terms of semantics, pragmatics and syntax, research the errors made by overseas students and analyze the cause of the errors. In the final chapter, according to analysis and the analysis of the cause of errors, the appropriate teaching strategies are proposed, and an instructional design is put forward by a set of synonymous modal adverbs of "Xingkui" and "Haozai" as an example.
