An Analysis Of Lukacs' Materialization Theory And Its Practical Significance

Materializing, in the process of studies on Marxism is Lukas’ core concept of his discussion, and this theory is the powerful arm in contemporary capitalistic criticism.According to this theory, as the results of popularization and modularization of mechanized mass production, laborers and their labor show trends of atomization and standardization, and then labors and their products are out of control of laborers, on the contrary, they suppress and replace the dominant role of laborers. Lukas regards this common phenomenon in capitalist society as the root reason opposed subject and object.From the very beginning of Lukas’ materialization theory, this paper analyzes and researches the background and theoretical foundation in this process and from this having a good understanding of materialization’s basic. Meanwhile this paper analyzes and discusses the representation, sums up the peculiarity of this theory through defining related concepts, on this foundation, studied the relation of materialization and alienation. Whether in source and facts, target and opinion, Lukas’ materialization has some in common with Marxism. Meanwhile, he set up his own theoretical framework after inheriting and developing Marxism. The difference between them shows on dimensionality of concepts, sources and research methods. In view of researching, this paper evaluates and analyses the realistic significance, including contributions and limitations, finally, points out revelations to science, technology, thoughts and life in actual conditions of China.
