"Legend" and "poetry" are "the odd of the generation " in Tang Dynasty."Legend" of Tang Dynasty represents an initial maturity of Chinese novel style and it was characterised by numerous works, large authors, wide theme, wonderful structure, beautiful language and exquisite techniques. The "Legend" had a profound impact on the vernacular novels of Song and Ming Dynasty, as well as the significance of inheriting the past and giving enlightenment to the following generation in the course of novel development. The Sequel of Xuanguai Lu is an important "Legend" anthology in Tang Dynasty, but it has been seen as the sequel book of Xuanguai Lu, so it didn’t arouse enough attention of the researchers. This article attempts to focus on the stylistic features, political overtones, the social and cultural values and the consciousness intrinsic which reflected in " Sequel of Xuanguai Lu ". The article also aims to interprete the social customs as well as Ideology and culture of Tang Dynasty in order to accumulate material for other researches, and to make a proper assessment of its value and significance of literature and the history in Chinese fiction.The whole thesis falls into foreword, four chapters of mainbody and the conclusion. The forword reviewed the study of the conditions and the current academic research results. The first chapter is the textual research of " Sequel of Xuanguai.Lu ", restates the version, author and chapter of " Sequel of Xuanguai Lu "through rigorous derivation of the existing material. The second chapter is the research of theme and topic of" Sequel of Xuanguai Lu ". It focuses on the subject matter and aims to analyze the theme and summarize the value of the works. The third chapter is the literary value of" Sequel of Xuanguai Lu ". This chapter focuses on the stylistic features of the works. It aims to conclude the significance of the works in the novel history from the aspects of structure, image building and language episode. Chapter four is the creation, trend of the times and the local culture of" Sequel of Xuanguai Lu ". In this chapter, the author analyzes " Sequel of Xuanguai Lu " from a new perspective through local aspect of Long Writers of Tang "Legend". Finally, Conclusion section is to summarize the research.It is proved in this thesis that although" Sequel of Xuanguai Lu " is considered as an equel book of Xuanguai Lu, it has its own unique style in ideological content and artistic expression."Sequel of Xuanguai Lu" expresses more widely in content, reflects deeper in the reality of life. It also provides us with the historical data and basis in changes in social thought, scholars feelings, and social reality. It focuses on character shaping with both image and verve in accurate and concise language. In this book, both vernacular and classical style of writing are used. In this book, structure pushes the plot, and the use of "pre-classification" highlights the strong social function of promoting human relations and emphasizing enlightenment."Sequel of Xuanguai Lu" also provids material for the later novels, script, traditional opera and other variety of literary forms. Meanwhile, it offers reference for future creation in the characters, language and detailed description. Focusing on the geographical features of the author of "Sequel of Xuanguai Lu" will help the development of local cultural studies and clarify the context of geographical and cultural studies.
