Mating choice is an advantage of human’s breeding and extension. It is different because of social and culture background. Most of the evolutionary psychology theory and operational hypothesis is carried out in the Western cultural background. And the cultural psychology studied that actors in cultural background has great influence on our behavior. The domestic research for older women has achieved some results. But the research for unmarried male mating choice is relatively less. In view of this, this study research the unmarried male’s mating preference from the background of modern culture. So it has the important practical significance.This study is divided into two parts. The first part is the personals virtual and interview. Through a hypothetical scene we can analysis male’s mating preferences. The first step is code description, the second is select variables, and the last is analysis the description and variables. We can draw some conclusions from these. According the result we can make an interview. The interview is a supplement to the result. The second part has made a further research on the basis of the first part. This part includes Rosenberg self-esteem scale and the Schwartz value scale. We can study the relationship between male mating preference and self-esteem as well as values.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:1.Men’s age, work or not, as well as men’s educational degree in male mating preference exists significant differences. Older men prefer women’s independence while younger men prefer cute women. The workers prefer fealty while the students prefer cute and women’s educational degree. Man who has high educational degree prefer women’s high educational degree.2. In all traits that male preferred, the female’s beauty is in the first place, followed by gentle, then independence. The level of emphasis on women’s independence has increased. The majority of male don’t mind female’s high education and high salary. This is different from the traditional concept that male should be higher than female.3. Men esteem exist significant differences in mate preferences. People with high self-esteem tend to choose female lively character and low self-esteem of men tend to choose a quiet woman. 4. Men of different view of value orientation has significant differences in mate preferences. People who get high scores in self improvement and open attitude pay more attention to women’s generous. People get high scores in self transcendence, self improvement and open attitude tended to select lively women.
