Zhou Shen’s Scenic Spots in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, an album of painting, is a work of travelling depicting the sceneries in provinces Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In this album, poems and paintings are laid out alternately on the pages. Recording author’s experiences in the places of interests, travelling paintings are identified with a certain extent of realistic nature for the reason that they are products of the author’s knowledge of landscape and literary background, observation of life and close interaction with the nature, from which the author draw materials to recognize, memorize and work with.This piece of work of Zhou Shen does not employ the conventional map directions with the north at the top. Rather, the north is on the left, and correspondingly, the south is on the right,This picture displays the surroundings from Tongyang Bridge to Jiefang Bridge. Today this district holds four major venues for religious activities:Wen Feng Temple (Buddhism, Ming Dynasty), Catholic Church (Catholicism, Qing Dynasty), Pu Ha Ding Cemetery (Islamism, Song Dynasty), and Qiong Hua Guan (Taoism, Qing Dynasty) and Dong Guan Gu Du; Dong Guan Street; Shuang Weng Wall; Also, there is residential area of extremely wealthy salt dealers in the past in Yangzhou.
