The content of topic “the research of packaging color design in printing” ismainly to elaborate the theoretical and practical guidance applied in dealing withpackaging color design. Product packaging is an integral and systematic productionprocedure with workmanship.Packaging is the outer image of product, among which the color is the mostattractive factor that can lure consumer’s desire. Since ancient times, people became toknow that color is a kind of visual language expressing emotion with overwhelmingadvantage. This article research packaging color first from the basic attributes of colorand then combined with physical, physiological and psychological effect to peoplegenerated by color. The importance of packaging color is discussed in detail in thepaper. In a time abundant with material, packaging color not only increases the valueof product and reflects enterprise culture but also act as a silent salesman. Moreover,apart from increasing the aesthetic enjoyment of consumer, packaging color canstimulate their purchasing desire, enrich their imagination, and cultivate their mind.The color blending of package should be designed in according to differentproducts. The implication and effect of color are expressed differently in differentobjects. Designers should investigate the habits and preferences of consumers as wellas changing tendency at home and aboard so as to enhance their awareness ofsociology and psychology.With the development of science, technology, economy and culture, computer andinternet are widely used in every walk of life. The substitution of computer softwaresfor brush, paper, and drawing board significantly changed the way of designers’working. Besides, this change cut the time for completing the task and improved workefficiency. Adobe Photoshop, the main tool for graphic designers today, has a powerfulability for picture processing. It is unchallengeable in terms of color rendition, colorcorrection and image repairing. Just knowing how to use softwares to perform well andbeing capable of creative thinking is far from enough for a graphic designer. Packagingis a comprehensive discipline perfectly combined by act, technique, and science andtechnology. The following questions are further researched: how to grasp goodoriginality, how to implement techniques of computer software, how to copy by using high-tech printing device, what influence may have during processing, what materialshould be taken and what craft should be applied.Environmental problem is one of hottest themes at present. It is not reasonable todevastate the sustainable development of natural environment. Recyclable materialsshould be used as much as possible for packaging. Printing paper, ink should benon-poisonous and have no side-effect to human. Packaging material should adoptenvironmentally friendly ones which can bring better color effect. In the premise ofguaranteeing effect, designers should minimize the use of materials, unnecessarydecorations, extra package and color. High and new technology in new era offerconvenient operation to packaging color designers, create people a healthy livingenvironment and make more consumers enjoy the convenience and colorfulness of lifebrought by packaging prints.People is the dominator of the world, thus, overall, packaging color design shouldreflect the idea of “harmonious color, people-oriented”.
