Objective:About clinical investigation of insomnia patients through scale, the article reports the collection and analysis of insomnia patients’ information as gender, age, job, characteristic and inducement etc., and information about the time factor of sleep-wake rhythm, to explore the correlation between five viscera syndrome differentiation typing of insomnia and various time factors. This paper gives an overview of the preliminary study of the treatment of five viscera syndrome differentiation system base on regular time for insomnia, to provide new ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment of insomnia. Methods:This paper presents the cross-sectional study methodology for the correlation between five viscera syndrome differentiation typing of insomnia and various time factors, as the form of questionnaire survey for patients with diagnosis of insomnia selected from department of encephalopathy Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Hospital outpatient and inpatient from May 2015 to January 2016. By using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scale and filling out the "Chinese medicine for insomnia Questionnaire (self-designed) to evaluate the sleep quality of patients with insomnia. The author of this paper has described general data of patients with insomnia, distribution of insomnia symptoms and the related information about time factors, synthesis of the four diagnostic methods. In the paper patients has been classified through five viscera syndrome differentiation typing according to the symptoms and signs and has been analysed through statistical software to the correlation between five viscera syndrome differentiation of insomnia and time factors.Results:1. Age distribution:the survey with 103 cases of female patients accounted for 77.9%, men accounted for 21.2%; age distribution:between the ages of 19-78,20-40 years of age has got the most accounted for a percentage of 38.5%, the second place is accounted by age greater than 60 years, which has the percentage of 29.8%; As for education:77.6% for people in the higher culture degree (undergraduate and above); people as mental workers accounted for 92.3%; Speaking about characteristic distribution:two type of people accounted for a most percentage as 57.3% and 53.4%, the irritable and sentimental ones; and 58.3% insomnia patients who work in front of the screen more than 3 hours a day.2. Analysis of sleep quality between different gender, age, education level, jobs of insomnia patients:the results showed that different jobs and different levels of education of insomnia patients with no significant difference in sleep quality but there are differences in the sleep quality of the patients with different gender and age.3. Frequency in different seasons:spring:51%, summer:47.1%, long summer:24%, autumn:16.4% and winter:38.8%. Sleep time of patients are most in 23:00-1:00 (gallbladder time) accounted for 47.1%; the second period is 21:00-23:00 (Sanjiaojing time) accounted for 28.8%; in 1:00-3:00 (liver time)accounted for 10.6%; in 3:00-5:00 (lung time) accounted for 16.3%; in 5:00-7:00 (intestinum time) accounted 6.7%. Patients awake in the 23:00-1:00 midnight accounted for 10.6%; in 1:00-3:00 accounted for 8.7%; in 3:00-5:00 accounted for 20.2%; in 5:00-7:00 accounted for 28.8%; in 7:00-9:00 accounted for 53.8%.4. Insomnia distribution according to five viscera syndrome differentiation:insomnia patients with liver disease:30.8%; insomnia patient with heart disease 27.9%;insomnia patient with spleen disease:12.5%; insomnia patient with pulmonary disease:9.6%; insomnia patient with kidney disease:18.3%. No significant differences in sleep quality between patients with different syndromes.5. The correlation between five viscera syndrome differentiation typing of insomnia and time factors through logistic regression analysis:patients who are sleepless in spring, born in summer, asleep in 21:00-23:00, awake in 23:00-1:00, Sig<0.05,exp (b)> 1, are related to liver syndrome typing of insomnia; patients who are sleepless in summer, asleep in 21:00-23:00,1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00, Sig<0.05,exp (b)> 1, are related to heart syndrome typing of insomnia; patients who are sleepless in summer, born in winter, awake in 7:00-9:00, Sig<0.05,exp (b)> 1, are related to spleen syndrome typing of insomnia; patients who are sleepless in winter, born in autumn, awake in 3:00-5:00, Sig<0.05,exp (b)> 1, are related to lung syndrome typing of insomnia; patients who are sleepless in winter, born in summer, asleep in 1:00-3:00, Sig<0.05,exp (b)> 1, are related to kidney syndrome typing of insomnia.Conclusion:1.Insomnia has seasonal regularity, there is a certain correlation with five viscera syndrome.2.There is a certain correlation between the birth season of insomnia patient and five viscera syndrome.3.There is a certain correlation between bedtime/wake-up time and five viscera syndrome.
