ObjectClarifing the hierarchy and structure of the fire theory in Neijing, define its theoretical contents and the law of clinical application, and also providing the necessary theoretical basis for further innovation and modernization research, as well as guiding clinical practice of TCM.MethodThis paper will using the general method of literature review study to review, carding and analysis the related research of modern scholars which from China National Knowledge Infrastructure.ResultsBy combing Neijing and the relevant modern literature, the content of fire theory in Neijing is as follows:First, the contents of the fire theory in Neijing generally comprises three categories: material fire, philosophical fire, medical fire.Philosophical fire including fire of yin and yang,fire from the five elements. Medical fire including fire from the six climatic factors, constitution of fire, viscera fire(fire of the heart), minor fire and sthenic fire. Fire from the six climatic factors including monarch fire and ministerial fire,fire from the Nineteen Items of Pathogenesis, stagnation of fire from the five stagnation.Second, the formation of "heart corresponding to fire",formed in the medical practice and also related to the functional properties of the heart.Third, the original meaning of the monarch fire and ministerial fire is in lieu of the climate feature of warmth and heat in a specific time period in nature. In Song,Jin,and Yuan Dynasties, under the influence of "Correspondence Between Man and Universe", monarch fire and ministerial fire which as the terms in the Fortune Doctrine, gradually evoluting into medical terminology.The nature of Monarch fire which as a kind of physiological fire of human body is heart fire, The ministerial fire in human body also known as mingmen fire, its nature is primordial qi. Ministerial fire,mingmen and primordial qi have the same connotation,which associated with kidney-essence and reproductive functions in human body.Fourth, the connotation of minor fire and sthenic fire can be divided into two categories: the fire of human body and the fire of food and medicine. The connotation of minor fire are: relatively mild body yang, physiological fire, vital qi which originated from mingmen, a kind of ministerial fire which storaged in the kidney, functional objects which adjust to digestion and also refer to the kind of food and medicine which with nature of pungent, sweet and warm. The connotation of sthenic fire are:relatively hyperactivity of body yang, pathological fire, hyperactivity of ministerial fire, internal deficient fire, functional objects which adjust to absorb, and also refer to the kind of food and medicine which with nature of pungent, heat and pure yang.Fifth, there are nine pathogenesis-related fire and heat in the Nineteen Items of Pathogenesis. Hot hyperactivity,disturbing mental activities,generating wind is the main feature of pathogenesis which belongs to fire. The prominent spleen and stomach symptoms, abdominal symptoms and wind type symptoms is the main feature of pathogenesis which belongs to heat. Excessive heat generating wind is the basic pathological changes of the pathogenesis which belongs to fire and heat.Sixth, the original meaning of "release of fire stagnation" refers to the hot stagnaged and does not flow, it should release. Under extending and playing by the doctors in the later ages, the connotation of this theory is enriching and developing,the range of its clinical applications is also expanding.ConclusionOn the research of the fire theory in Neijing, modern scholars have focused on medical fire, and pay close attention to elucidating original text in Neijing with clinical practice, combinate learning classic and do clinical practice organically is the main features of the modern research.
