Image fusion is a technique to get a new image by combining information from multiple images of the same scene. The new image can reflect the information of multiple original images. Image fusion technique is very important in medicine, nature resource, resource management, biology et al. It has significant strategic senses in national security and economic construction.In this dissertation, we focus on the image fusion based on the wavelet transform. Firstly, the paper introduces the background of research based image fusion technology and the fundamental principles of some traditional image fusion technology. Secondly, the paper elaborately introduces the technique of image fusion based on the wavelet transform, and makes some simulate experiments for the image. Moreover, all kinds of existing arithmetics are detailedly induced and summarized in this paper.Thirdly, a method of image fusion based on the Canny-like criteria of the wavelet transform to detect the edge is proposed, which combine the fusion strategy of energy character to construct fusion image in character-level. This approach can effectively get a fusion image, which can detect the edge detail effectively while restraining noise.At last, the recognition of noise and weak edge is proposed during the research of edge detection based on the Canny-like criteria, which is applied in wavelet transformation. In this way, this method not only preserves the weak edge dot, but also restrains noise, along with the increasing of the scale. Moreover, a new algorithm of dynami c-two-value is proposed, according to the character of image which can dynamically choose value to confirm edge. The method greatly improves the precision of the edge orientation.
