With the development of software, hardware and network of computer technology, an increasing number of people use computer to get information. Mankind has entered the information age which develops very rapidly. So the information that people get through computer is a very huge amount. In all of these information that get from computer, the information including in image is a very large part. So the research of digital image processing draws the attention of a large number of researchers, it get a very wide research.Here we introduce the content of every chapter of this paper:The first chapter introduces the branchs of digital image processing and its background.The second chapter introduces the basic theory of wavelet and the development of wavelet transform.The third chapter introduces traditional methods of image edge detection and the edge detection methods based on wavelet transform.The fourth chapter introduces traditional methods of image denoising and the image denoising methods based on wavelet transform.The fifth chapter introduces edge detection method based on the gray level difference of row and column adjacent pixels proposed in this paper and the image denoising method based on it.In the end, we summarize and prospect the related areasThrough the learning and research of the methods of edge detection and image denoising, This paper proposes an simple edge detection method based on the gray level difference of row and column adjacent pixels. Compared with the traditional edge detection methods, the outstanding advantages of this method is very simple and easy to implement, and it has low time and space Complexity. Considering the special status of image edges, we propose a wavelet image denoising method based on edge detection. Experiments show that the methods proposed in this paper could get good results.
