In this thesis, the basic theory of wavelet transform, the multi-resolution analyses, and the Mallat algorithm are introduced firstly. Aiming at the shortage of the traditional and pop edge detecting methods in digital images, we discuss the convenience and the availability of wavelet and focus on the methods of edge detection in wavelet transform. Then we discuss two kinds of adaptive arithmetic, one of which can adjust the scale of analysis according to the pixels of image and the probability of edge nearby, the other can be used for those images with both salient and smooth edge. It's obvious that multi-resolution analysis is effective in image fusion. Therefore, we put forward an improved method of image fusion of multi-resolution analysis based on biorthogonal wavelet transform. Finally, the technologies of color image segmentation are mentioned. |
