It is very imperative to improve research item management in efficiency and quality in the academy. This dissertation expatiates how to empolder the management information system (MIS) for research item in the academy. The main work is as follows:First of all, put forward a clear flow of the MIS about the research item management which includes research proposal, contract management, process management, patent management and so on, so that the work of management becomes well-ordered and the work time is decreased.Second, construct the model of the MIS for research item management. Analyze the requirement of the system; establish the entity object and the database tables. All these become the base of the establishment of the database.Third, bring forward the total scheme. Use the B/S pattern on the proscenium, the C/S pattern on the background. So the information management of research item can be realized with high efficiency. At last, realize the MIS of research item. Through the data processing and the development of the friendly interface, a series of characteristic functions are achieved, such as statistical query, data recomposition, deletion by group and etc. All these functions make the information management of research item more convenient and improve the decision-making ability of the handler. Now, this system has been successfully used in the sci-tech department of Si Chuan University and worked well. It meets the requirement of scientific and high efficient management. The MIS of research item with strong ability of network and data processing not only prevents the handler from heavy work, but also improve the management level and can be worthy of being popularized.
