With the development of computer science , network communication technology and modern design technology, modern product design is mainly based on knowledge and innovation. As the most mature technology of Internet, Web has prominent advantages of simplicity, open end and friendly user interface. At the same time, a mass of data during the traditional process of excavator design is stored dividually in different data base, which directly affects the efficiency of excavator design and the implementation of subsequent excavator CAE system.Based on the facts mentioned above, An integrated and intelligent CAD system based on web is explored and developed. Combined with the support of cooperative design technology, the information and designing data can be exchanged and shared easily. It is undoubted that integration, intelligentize and internationalize will be the main trend of compute aided design including excavator CAD in the near future.The main work that has been done in this thesis is as following:1. Firstly, the frame of the integrated and intelligent excavator CAD system based on web has been developed. The web structure of the system and the main frame of the integrated system are presented. The procedure of the system is also discussed.2. Based on some former and traditional CAD system of excavator and according to the excavator design theory, some CAD systems based on web such as expert system, testing system, hydraulic system CAD sub-system, rotator system CAD sub-system and so on have been developed.3. The key basic technology of the integrated system is mainly studied. Information integrated technology, web technology and engineering data base technology is presented. The access technique of database is discussed.4. The parametric entity model of the hydraulic excavator is studied and re-established in the need of this integrated system, which can be driven by the result of the system.5. At last, an example of excavator design using the integrated system is shown, which tests the correctness and convenience of the system.
