The coming era of mass media showed up the emergence of social form that is the consumption era. Modern society is one times of medium, and one times of consumption society meanwhile. The relation between mass media and consumerism has been gotten high attention. The research of this aspect in foreign country started much earlier than china, and more systematic at research production. As the research of this topic in home is just underway, the writer wishes to improve the research step of mass media and consumerism. In this thesis writer discusses such subjects as the situation of the mass media and the consumerism research, and how to explain the relation between them, so on. As a result the thesis divided into five parts.Part â…  is the profile, the writer introduces the foreign or domestic research situation of the mass media and the consumerism up to now, some viewpoint of representative scholars, and the objective of this thesis.Part â…¡ introduces the development of china mass media and the rising of consumerism. The writer discusses the tendency on the consumerism in the mass media in the market economy environment.In Part â…¢, writer discusses how the mass media and the consumerism trend toward the collusiveness. Starting from the semeiology and some analytical conceptions such as mythology, writer reasons how the mass media does attach culture meaning to merchandise, and make it become one nature attribute of merchandise.
