Study On Editor's Gatekeeping Nowadays

The study of editor theory, which had flourished in 1980' s, gradually has been forming a whole knowledge system through the research of the scholars and experts of engaging edit work in past 20 years. But, with the developing of information technology in recent years, a new transmitting medium-internet has appeared and the original medium has been changed. That brings a new task on editor theory study.At present, in China about the study of power of editor through internet, each sticks to his own argument and does not reach an agreement. The paper probes how the editors, which had worked as a gatekeeper in traditional medium, ensure their responsibilities and help readers to acquire their needed information. After thoroughly analyzing the status of transmitting medium from 1990' s, the paper considers that an editor still play a gatekeeper role in nowadays China' s transmitting activities. The paper discusses it in four parts.Part one: Survey in the gatekeeping theory of editor. It mainly talks about the home and overseas scholars' study on the gatekeeping theory of editor, and introduces its study background, value, content and method.
