The Design And Development Of University Educational Management Information System

The implementation of credit hour system is one of the important reforms of university instructional management modes, which made the teaching idea and working process changed greatly. With the sharp increase of the management information amount, the information renewal area and renewal speed increased. Then it is difficult to fit for these complicate conditions using the old instructional management method. And an educational management information system(EMIS) become necessary. So it is important for the design and development of the EMIS effectively to the reform of teaching management information and credit hour system.In this thesis, the process which discuss the design, development and application of the EMIS illuminates the active role facilitating the credit hour system reform and enhancing the efficiency of managers under the increasing scale of recruit students in university. Some questions are put forward that should be paid attention to in the process of design and development of EMIS, which lay a substantial basis for the development and application of the university EMIS theoretically and practically.Firstly, in this thesis, the background and characteristic of the university EMIS is analyzed, and the influence on the management modes in university is expatiated by the reform of credit hour system, the increasing recruit students scale and the development of information technology. Then considering the characteristic of university information management and the requirement of the credit hour system reform, the system design and development idea is proposed aimed to realize electronic school(E-school) by virtue of the modes and technique in electronic commerce(EC). At the aspect of system planning and design, considering the characteristic of the university information flow and organization structure, from the point of the customers, a B/S and C/S integration system structure is established based on the layout of the information construction of the whole school, which is work flow oriented and has the characteristic of system compatibility, extensibility and information sharing. At the aspect of the system development, by using suitable development tools and effective project management methods, the close contact is guaranteed between the developers and the users, which lifted the efficiency of system development. Finally, in this thesis, some frequently encountered problems in the system development process are concluded, such as courses arrangement arithmetic ,elective system and so on, and the corresponding settling methods of which are put forward.
