With the development of manufacture' s automation, DCS (Distributed Control System) was widely applied in all kinds of industrial fields and will become the mainstream of the application of industrial control systems. DCS was a huge and complex system engineering, in this paper the author departed DCS into two parts-its structures and its configurations based on the experiments ofthe research and the application of DCS. And the structures of DCS can be divided into the field control station and the communication network in details, and the configurations of DCS were concluded the networks, the equipments, the menus of operation and the control strategies. The control arithmetic and paraments tuning were the core of DCS, some control arithmetic were lucubrated in this paper.In the paper the two DCS projects, one is the DCS system of natural gas purified factory of the Chuan Zhong branch company of Southwest Petrol, the other is the DCS system of chemical plant of He Bang Group of Len Shan of Si Chuan, were developed by the author herself. The I/A' s and the Experion PKS were selected respectively based on the technical flow and the control scale of the two factories. In this paper it also analyzed and compared the system selections and features of the two DCS, and designed their system, reliability, control loops and so on. Up to now the two DCS systems have run well, it fully proved our selections, configurations and designs correct and reliable.Although DCS has become the mainstream of the application of industrial control systems, the control arithmetic in DCS is only PID control. In today' s industrial processes, the controlled plants were usually coupling, uncertain, nonlinear and pure hysteretic and so on, so in this paper it applied the advanced process control to DCS, and put forward a new PID self-tuning model based on BP neural network.
