Facing the deficiency of traditional defect management, in this paper, we improve this process by introducing methods of Software Measurement into it on the base of an optimized defect management process. In this way, we improve traditional defect management and make it provide more useful information to project management process. Today, in China, CMM is more popular than ever. People pay more attention to SPI when they aware how useful it is. Accordingly, in order to increase the efficiency of software development, low the cost and get in high software quality at the same time, they enthusiasm for more powerful defect process management tools. Software defect management, the true crux, plays an profound important role in this process. How to manage software defect effectively? How to classify defect in order to determine which defect should be correct first? How to get more useful information related with project management? How to determine software quality is on track or not? The answers of these problems lie in the defect management process. Based on the wide spread used model: PSM and Deming's PDCA flow, we measure and analyze software defect management process, solve the information need of project and discuss related reliability models.
