High-speed progress of Internet, embedded system, and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) has now developed far beyond our anticipation. The amount of Internet user is increasing exponentially, and so many kinds of commercial business around it have been boosted. The Internet is now carrying not only audio signals but also video multimedia. However, inconsistent with its high speed development, the IPv4 used today has not enough address space, and the next generation Internet (IPng) is just on the horizon.ARM(Advanced RISC Machine) Embedded system and DSP are widely used in everywhere nowadays, for example: mobile telephone, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), digital top box, digital camera, and digital TV. They have greatly facilitated our lives. And it will also have a bright future in application.The combination of embedded system, DSP and next generation Internet will be the key technique to process audio and video information in the future.The main work of this paper lies in the aspects listed below:Realize the Ethernet data link layer protocol which support ARM+DSP based on the TMS320VC5471 evaluated board produced by Spectrum Digital Company.Complete the TCP/IPv4/6 dual protocol stack, which make possible for DSP to transmit data to Ethernet by using IPv4 and v6 in condition of no operating system at the same time. The network transmission is realized by DSP directly through TCP/IP, this greatly improve the efficiency of dual-core processor, and the programming efficiency of the programmers on it.Established the Ethernet-based GDB debug platform, on which, the program in ARM and DSP can be debugged conveniently. Furthermore, the cost for purchasing expensive debug hardware and software has been dramatically decreased.Based on the research fruits discussed above, a rudiment digital audio classroom is developed, which realize the efficient combination of audio signal process and TCP/IPv4/6 dual protocol stack.All in all, DSP supported Ethernet data layer protocol, TCP/IPv4/6 dual protocol stack, and GDB debug environment together consist of an audio video process platform faced to the next generation Internet. So it will have a bright future to apply this kind of platform into the embedded system and network development.This paper combined ARM, DSP, TCP/IP, and audio signal process together, developed a set of Ethernet-based GDB debug platform, which has the characteristic of strong transplant ability, compact code, and small system resource cost. It is suit for all kinds of ARM+ DSP_based development environment.
