Virtual Reality is a new technology developed recently, which integrates many information technology and gives us a strong support in building and roaming in virtual world. Virtual Reality has been used in many fields.In virtual scene, especially in outdoor virtual scene such as flight simulation, game and war game system, 3D cloud is a very important part because it improves the third dimension of the virtual reality. But it is only a part of the virtual reality, so the more calculation is needed.Modeling and rendering are the two phases of cloud generation. Many algorithms are put forward to improve the third dimension and interaction and reduce the calculation. There are many excellent algorithms for generating 3D cloud and result in good effects. But there are many problems to solve.This paper sums up the previous works in chapter one to four. In chapter five improves on the algorithms about Dobashi and Harris based on the former works. Mainly include parts as follows: combining organically the cellular automaton and multiple scattering because of implementing moving clouds easily and accuracy of multiple scattering; adding the status shift rules for the cellular automaton which can make cloud move by wind and using impostor to predigest the calculation. The experiment shows a good effect in third dimension and real time.
