Single-observer passive locating method has widest development and application as a rising locating resort. Passive locating methods can be seen as an important direction to the development of locating methods and perfection to existing locating systems. Passive locating methods have the merits of far distance,concealable receiving and low probability to be detected,compared to active locating methods. So , passive locating system can help to improve viability and battle effectiveness of the whole system in the electronic war environment.The method with phase difference rate of change has broad developing prospects. It tally with the trend that explore new passive locating methods with high precision and speed.The paper analyse the investigation and technique of passive locating methods in the world, and labor the theory of the method with phase difference rate of change. Owing to this method needs information of speed, we put forward the EKF arithmetic to estimate the speed of aim and deal with the result, in conclusion,the paper put forward the method of phase difference rate of change combine with EKF using in a novel passive detecting radar system.
