ADCP(Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler ) is a kind of measurement device which is developed in recent years. It is a high-tech product based on the principle of radar, sonar and digital signal technology. It is improved from traditional current measurement ways, and the measurement of the velocity and depth of water can get more accurate results than traditional ways. In addition, it is easy to get the river profiler by using ADCP. ADCP plays a very important role in the developing and making full use of water resource and therefore makes the water resource be beneficial to nature, society, and human beings.In this paper, we put our emphasis on data acquirement and signal processing of returned signal from Acoustic Doppler Current measurement. By using software radio and DSP technology, the desired information about velocity and depth of the water can be obtained easily and flexibly from the returned signals. The main research work and simulation results are as follows:(l)Basic principle of Acoustic Doppler Current measurement. The principle of ADCP system is described based on discussing the principle of velocity measurement, depth measurement, and the basic idea of the depth units. Furthermore, the concepts of ambiguity in velocity and depth are also introduced.(2)Principle of data acquirement and its application in our system. The principle of data acquirement, the signal sampling theory, and the basic structure of data acquirement are analyzed. The design block diagram of implementation is provided.(3) Signal processing and its application in this system. After introducing the tasks of signal processing, we provide the algorithm of signal processing in this system. In particular, the simulation results about FFT and correlative function algorithms are given and analyzed.(4) Software and hardware design of the whole system. The system structure of data acquirement and signal processing of ADCP is provided. Partial hardware circuits are realized, and the software design about data acquirement and signal processing is also finished.
