Sub-bottom profiler is broadly used to offer intuitive sea-bottom profile information for marine exploration, such as marine geological survey, offshore oil and gas exploration,seabed pipeline maintenance,ocean expedition. This paper is dedicated to designing a data collection and processing software for sub-bottom profiler receiver.The principle and the development of sub-bottom profiler are first introduced in this paper. It also respectively analyzes the superiority of parametric array emission and vector hydrophone reception on the basis of profiler system architecture, and finally comes to a optimum design scheme to meet the functional requirements and hardware resource restraints of the system.The main contents of the software design in this paper has been divided in two parts:control software of the system and signal processing algorithm.First of all, the paper respectively implements software control of each relevant system module, such as data collection module, FPGA and DSP communication module,time-varying gain control module, and network interface data transmission module. The control software is also debugged on the hardware platform to prove itself capable of data collection and transmission.Second, the system algorithm focuses on copy-correlation algorithm and unilateral beam-forming algorithm. An echo signal model of detector has been established, and simulation results of corresponding algorithm based on the echo signal model indicates a good performance in real-time data processing. Transplanting the verified algorithm to system hardware platform to implement data processing and upload data to the PC via network.Finally, the result of underwater system debugging identifies that the development of the system has successfully reaches the target.
