In this paper, integrated information system for ship is brought forward against the problem of plentiful devices, abundant information and dispersed management on ship. The function of this system is to manage and use the information of ship together. This system is designed to collect, transmit, dispose, display and manage the information, including the devices and instruments in engine room, navigation information in bridge and meteorological information. So the missionary on ship can obtain the requisite information distinctly.This paper set forth the whole structure of the system, then discuss the five parts of this system, including collection, transmission, disposal, display and management, and key techniques separately. In the collection part, the objections to collect are discussed first, and then provide the solution to unite the information format before collection to solve the difference in format, rate and voltage; there are two segments in transmission, one is during the ship, another is between ship and land. The first is designed to use industry Ethernet and the last depend on the different environment; in disposal and display, this paper conduct the information first and then display them using vc++6.0; in management, the information are gathered into database so as to manage the data conveniently.The research about digitalization of magnetic compass is discussed in detail as an example in collection of integrated information system for ship. First illuminate the necessary of this research and then determine the project according to the characteristic of the magnetic compass and the circumstance in ship. This project designs to use camera to acquire the image of magnetic compass, transmit them to FS44B0XII develop board through USB interface, and then dispose and recognize the image using embedded image processing technique and image pattern recognition.
